The system monitors the user's incoming utility power and automatically turns on to supply electrical power during an interruption, even if the user is not home. These emergency systems can be installed outside existing homes or planned as part of a new construction project.

A Kohler residential generator system, similar in size to a central air conditioning unit, can be powered by natural gas or propane. The compact 8.5 and 11 kW systems are enclosed within a tamper-resistant, weatherproof protective housing. Standard Electric is now stocking 8.5, 11 and 20 kW units.
