Standard Electric Plugs Into Northern Rhode Island

Acquisition of Woonsocket's Distributor Marks Our Second Acquisition In Three Months.
If you're working on a project in Northern Rhode Island or Southeastern Massachusetts, Standard Electric is now able to service all your needs. The acquisition of Belliveau Electrical Supply, a 10,000 square foot operation in Woonsocket, brings the number of Standard's New England locations to eight.

The newest Woonsocket addition is located at 113 Clinton Street, and will continue to operate as a counter and distribution center of lighting, telecommunications and electrical supplies for the Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts markets. Belliveau's former owner will continue to run the day-to-day operations.

Much like Standard Electric's beginnings, Belliveau was founded in a storefront location by A.P. Belliveau, in 1937. In 1945, the business was sold to Alex Allaire, who ran it from the same location for over 40 years. In 1986, Craig Brassard took over the company and moved it to its present location on Clinton Street in 1990.

Dennis Miller, Standard Electric President, commenting on the Belliveau purchase, said, "The acquisition of Belliveau continues to fuel our growth strategy and closely follows behind our purchase of Keystone Lighting and Electric in Worcester, Massachusetts."

Standard Electric was founded in Waltham, MA in 1952. The company now has over 300 employees, eight locations in New England, sales offices in California and Atlanta, and two lighting showrooms under the name Wolfers Lighting in Allston and Waltham. For more information about our Woonsocket location, call Craig Brassard, Branch Manager, at (401) 762-1937.
